Über ihren Vortrag schreibt Frau Nakken:
In my talk I will give a short introduction to the history of mathematics in preschool teacher education in Norway. I will present an overview of the mathematics in the curriculum plan applicable for every Norwegian kindergarten. In this curriculum the word Matematikkglede has a focal point. This shows the value put into making the preschool teachers able to create a stimulating mathematical learning environment characterized by joy. In my talk I will focus on various aspects of Matematikkglede. Among other things, joy in mathematics is linked to meaningfulness, communication and interaction, curiosity, finding out, and the teacher’s ability to see the mathematical potential in the myriad of experiences a young child has throughout the day. I will present my views on what competencies the preschool teachers should have to be able to spread Matematikkglede to every child in their future job in kindergartens. At the end of the talk I will give examples of how great mathematical ideas can be developed by using simple means like stones, sticks and balloons in open, rich and joyful tasks in the kindergartens. Like mathematicians, the preschoolers eager to understand the mathematics that surrounds them, and they want to experience the joy and excitement of the mathematical world.
